Triumph Scrambler 400X Launched

A strategic partnership with Bajaj Auto has resulted in the introduction of two new affordable motorcycles for Triumph. Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are based on TR Series 398 cc single-cylinder engine that generates 40 PS of peak power and 37.5 Nm of peak torque. As previously mentioned, the Scrambler 400 X is offered in three stylish colour options: Matt Khaki Green and Fusion White, Carnival Red and Phantom Black, and Phantom Black and Silver Ice. Each colour combination features Triumph's unique "Scrambler" tank stripe and triangular badge.

Triumph Scrambler 400X looks very similar to the Speed 400 but here it gets a slightly rugged look. The motorcycles gets a sculpted fuel tank with 13 litres of fuel tank capacity and it gets traditional Triumph black powder-coated engine casings with gold anodised front forks.

It gets round LED headlamps with DRLs and the bike uses the same main frame but the cycle parts have been changed. Triumph is offering 25 additional optional accessories.

This is a modern powertrain that features liquid cooling, a DOHC setup, a 4V head, a slipper clutch, ride-by-wire, a 6-speed gearbox and more. Triumph has optimised this power train for low-speed rideability, smooth power delivery and a lot of character.

Where it differs from Speed 400 is in hardware and componentry. Scrambler 400 X comes with a ton of advanced feature, which includes wide adjustable handlebars, flat Scrambler foot pegs with removable rubber inserts, a slim waist and relaxed Scrambler ergonomics, and upswept exhaust.

Apart from this, the 50 mm long-travel suspension at both ends with 195 mm high ground clearance and 35 mm seat height, is what makes the bike stand out from the rest of its rivals.

Impactful and purposeful design

In terms of dimensions, the Scrambler 400X takes away the cake, although the margin is very less. The Scram’s 1,418 mm wheelbase is slightly higher than the Speed 400’s 1,377 mm. As for the seat height is concerned, the Scrambler stands tall at 835mm, while the Speed 400 seat height stands at 790mm.

The promised service interval is pretty high too, at 10,000 miles (16,093 km). This not only reduces running and maintenance costs but reduces the number of visits to service centres as well.
